Tagir Ulanbekov (-320) vs. Clayton Carpenter (+250)
The first fighter from Dagestan to compete at UFC 311 is Tagir Ulanbekov. Ulanbekov is a grappler who doesn’t ever stop looking for the submission in his fights. He has won 4 of his last 5 fights and his last 2 coming by way of submission. On the other hand we see the undefeated Carpenter who has won all 8 of his fights, 6 coming by way of stoppage. Carpenter is a super exciting fighter who is relentless everywhere. Both of these guys are in for a test this weekend. I do think the grappling of Ulanbekov will prevail though.
Prediction: Tagir Ulanbekov via Unanimous decision
Bernardo Sopaj (-290) vs. Ricky Turcios (+235)
A fight in the bantamweight division we see two fighters that are both coming off of losses. For Sopaj he came off of a brutal walk off flying knee knockout against Vinicus Oliveira. On the other side Turcios is coming off a submission loss against the young and coming Raul Rosas Jr. Both of these fighters have something to prove and I believe it could be the fight of the night. Although Sopaj did get put in a highlight reel in his last fight it is important to note that, that was his UFC debut and he wasn’t even performing that bad. With Turcios he has been in the spotlight more and you can say he is somewhat seasoned in this sport. I can definitely see how Turcios can pull it off with his striking.
Prediction: Ricky Turcios via Split decision
RInya Nakamura (-535) vs. Muin Gafurov (+385)
In the bantamweight division we see the new undefeated prospect Rinya Nakamura take on Muin Gafurov. Nakamura is a diversely skilled fighter who can out strike you or submit you. Gafurov on the other hand is coming off a good win after losing his last 2 fights before that. Gafurov is a very good grappler but besides that lacks that striking aspect of his game. I do see Nakumura prevailing in this fight on the feet.
Prediction: Rinya Nakamura via Knockout (Round 2)
In the Women’s bantamweight division we find out if Ailin Perez can propel herself into the top 10. She is riding off a 4 fight win streak and submitted her last opponent in the first round. On the other hand Rosa is a highly skilled striker who is extremely dangerous in the fight. She has won 2 of her last 3 fights. I think if Perez uses her grappling in this fight she will dominate the fight. It is all up to Rosa on how she approaches this fight. With all the momentum riding on Perez’s side I think that she will win this fight.
Prediction: Ailin Perez via Submission (Round 3)
Zachary Reese (+175) vs. Azamat Bekoev (-210)
In the Middleweight division we see the kill or be killed Zachary Reese take on the debuting Russian Azamat Bekoev. Here is what we know about Bekoev. Bekoev is a super dangerous fighter who is 18-3 and 14 of those wins are by finish. He has won 6 fights in a row in the LFA. He is a super dangerous guy and can submit you or knock you cold out. Reese is a very lengthy fighter who is at best in distance control. When he fights his fight, I believe he looks like a top 10 Middleweight in the world.
Prediction: Zachary Reese via Unanimous Decision
